Everyone at one point in their life has been there stuck in a classroom where they just can not pay attention at all. There are tips and tricks that can be tried and there are things that can be explored to learn how to pay attention.
Sit as close to the front as you can muster. The front would be the first three rows of the classroom. Up here is where the people who want to be in this class are and this area is where the teacher will notice first. If you are seen daydreaming or not paying attention, you run the risk of being called on and not knowing what is going on in the class.
Sit by someone who sparks an interest in you. Use them as a way to keep yourself attentive. Discuss class topics with them, ask questions of them or just give friendly looks and smiles.
Be sure to make eye contact with the teacher at least a few times during the class. Follow them around the class as they move. Watch what they are doing at the board. When you understand what is being said, nod your head. If you do not understand what is being discussed, make a quizzical face. By doing this, you will be engaged and the teacher will be aware that you are paying attention by your body language and movements.
Raise your hand to ask questions or take part in a class discussion. To do either of these, you need to know what is going on in the class to ask appropriate questions or you need to know what is being talked about in the class discussion in order for you to participate.
